BANZAI!

A couple weeks back, I received the game, Banzai, in the mail. I was asked to try it out and let you know what I think about it. The problem was, it is a multi-player game and I am but a lone nerd. So I rounded-up some friends and we set about to figure it out.

If you did not know, Banzai is the name of a popular Japanese game show where contestants attempt to perform various stunts for prizes. The object of the boardgame is to bet on the outcome of these crazy stunts. The trick is that you have to use chopsticks to move the little betting chips from your bowl into the community bowl within 15 seconds! Now, unless you are really good at using chopsticks (none of us were - or are), this is far more complicated than it first appears! Especially when you add a little saki (or beer, in our case) to the mix...

Truth be told, we were having to play on the computer because my DVD player is hooked-up in the bedroom and that TV is too small (as is the room), so we had no remote, and alcohol was involved, so we were all having trouble getting any bets going! In the end, we watched a few of the clips and talked about Chinese food... but I digress.

Banzai is a really fun multi-player game for ages 16-up and while I suppose some of the stunts might be a little questionable for younger viewers (mostly because they might try them), there is nothing too "adult" about the game. However, if you have right setup for the event, it is great fun for a little drinking party game. I enjoyed the heck out of the time we spent playing it - well, trying to! Heh.

ScreenLife Games is at it again. They launched a new Banzai game. Check it out:
