Harold Ramis Dead at 69

Harold Ramis - writer, actor, producer, and director in and of such classic comedies as Stripes and Ghostbusters - died at age 69 due to complications stemming from auto-immune inflammatory vasculitis, a condition he had reportedly been battling for some time. According to press reports, Ramis passed while surrounded by friends and family.

Harold Ramis can also lay claim to being the first head writer on SCTV, a Canadian version of Saturday Night Live that featured a cavalcade of stars before their prime, including Catherine O'Hara, John Candy, Martin Short, and many more. The cast was from Chicago's Second City comedy troupe.

The Weirding @ Facebook regularly posts links to episodes of The Real Ghostbusters (cartoon) on Friday nights and many of Ramis' films are available online for free on such networks as Crackle, as well as on Netflix. I refrain from posting links directly to those selections as they will change.

Other credits include Groundhog Day, Meatballs, Back to School, Analyze This and the sequel, Analyze That. But, for many of us, he will best be remembered as Dr. Egon Spengler. Our condolences to his friends and family.
