I don't think anyone doubts she's not so innocent, but the performance that was supposed to be Britney Spears' big comeback has been panned across the board by critics.
According to reports, Britney wanted to do some kind of Criss Angel-inspired stageshow where she was to disappear and reappear several times throughout the act, but producers canned the idea when it became too wieldy to pull-off. Some are saying Britney was upset by this and had to change her act "at the last minute." But others say news of the original act's cancellation is at least a week old or more.
Some have suggested that Sarah Silverman's cruel jabs at the performer were what made Britney Spears' Video Music Awards performance so lackluster. Still others are saying she's simply lost "it." But I don't think Sarah Silverman's comments were quite as cruel as the press' reporting on Spears' body. The singer performed in barely any clothes and much was made of her less-than-firm midriff.
