Movie, TV, and Film News

Well, I was pleasantly surprised to wake up to a slew of movie news, including several pieces on films based on comic books. I say surprised because, with the writers' strike, there has been a dearth of decent entertainment news on really any front lately -- even the press releases have slowed down this week (though I doubt that has anything to do with the strike -- still makes it hard to find stuff to talk about).

Anyway, here's a Rundown of some movie and TV news, including some trailers and so forth, that you should find interesting:

  • Joss Whedon is returning to TV to create and script a show for none other than Buffy alum, Eliza Dushku, who played Faith in the series and the series' spin-off, Angel. The new show is called Dollhouse, and TV Guide describes it as a cross between Alias and Quantum Leap. The series is about a group of operatives who have their minds erased after each assignment and are implanted with false memories and necessary skills sets for each new assignment. Dushku will play the character, Echo, who begins resisting the mind wipes and gaining self-awareness. The show is being produced by none other than FOX Networks, which has many fans worried for its future before it has even aired! But Dollhouse has an initial 7 episode commitment and some reports suggest it may get the full 22 episode season if FOX decides to hold it for a Fall debut. Eliza Dushku is hotter than a $3 Mexican pistol in an Arizona pawnshop. Just, you know, getting that out there.
  • USA has officially canceled both 4400 and Dead Zone. I noticed a few posts "hoping for a Dead Zone movie"... Um, there is one -- stars Christopher Walken, in fact; there's a book, too! Just, you know, passing that along...
  • USAToday has a first look at the Hellboy sequel. Entitled Hellboy II: The Golden Army, it will be directed by del Toro and will feature Ron Perlman as the red-skinned demon. You have to watch USAToday, which is why I loath linking to them, because they have a bad habit of loading full-page ads on their feature stories; once the story loads, immediately hit the STOP button on your browser.
  • Here is a little sneaky-peek at Heroes season 3, entitled Villains. I'll be honest, I didn't bother to check out the video because of my slow connection speed and utter lack of enthusiasm for the show, but I can say this much about season 3: "This season, everything will be revealed..." Pffft.
  • Here's a great blog entry detailing the behind-the-scenes story of A Charlie Brown Christmas and why it almost wasn't shown.
  • Here is the list of nominations for this year's SAG Awards, which were televised on TNT this morning, between Charmed episodes.
And there you have it: a little movie news Rundown for this wet, chilly December 20th, 2007. And remember, B-Rated doesn't swim in your toilet, so don't pee in our pool!

UPDATE:  Too late!
