Eastwood Passed on Supes, Likes Sub-Mariner

Clint Eastwood told Hero Complex he was offered the role of both Superman and James Bond in the 1970s, but turned them down. "Thank God I didn't have to do that," Eastwood says of playing a superhero, which he feels would have typecasted him and tainted his later roles. Clint Eastwood was 48 by the time Superman actually reached the screen, and would was too old to play the role, but maintains his answer would have been no, regardless. "I always liked characters that were more grounded in reality," he said.

Eastwood says the Sub-Mariner is the hero he most liked, "I had all of those comics when I was a kid."
