The TV Club

I know we chat about [adult swim] quite a bit, and we talk about a lot of Sci-Fi shows, and Heroes, but I only sometimes mention the other TV programs I watch regularly. Even though I know a lot of you watch the same things. For a while there, we had a TV club going on another blog, a kind of support group, where we gabbed like little schoolgirls and gushed like mountain springs in summer months! Swooooon! I figured I'd jaw a bit about some of the shows I watch and see if anyone's interested.

I really like Supernatural and I've gotten to where I watch the new episodes only because they replay Grey's Anatomy the following night. I didn't get into Grey's until the very last episode of last season, and I got hooked pretty hard, very fast. Still, Supernatural is just as good on a different level, and often on the same levels.

I like Monk. Even though Psych is really trite, I usually end up catching most of the episodes because nothing else is on. That show is so "cute" and "silly" sometimes that I feel embarrassed to be watching it -- not like bad amateur porn, more like online games based on slapping celebrities. But Monk is pretty good.

Gunslinger Girl on IFC is just too pointlessly violent for my tastes. Not like I'm a prude or I find it offensive or anything, it just... it's just silly to me. Like Dragonball Z or whatever and those kinds of shows, where a single "mega-banzai attack" takes place over the course of three episodes during a ten-episode arc which is actually one long fight. I'm just not all "manga"-ed out like that. I've been over manga and anime since I was about 15.

I watch both episodes of Dead Like Me on Tuesdays, then usually watch Eureka, even though I've seen all those episodes like 3 or more times each. Now that I'm all into Smallville, I watch that instead, which means I still usually see the other episode of Dead Like Me. I wonder if that would make a decent movie? Like a TV special? Great show, either way.

I catch reruns of Newsradio whenever possible and, when I wake up, the channel is on Nick@Nite as often as Cartoon Network or anything else. They've been showing a week-long Roseanne marathon and I've seen most all of them.

I've gotten to where I watch Gilmore Girls once a day, because I've seen all the Charmed episodes they've been showing like three times or more. I freely admit to having seen some Footballers' Wives episodes and even enjoyed a few of them, but it's just too far over the top for my taste. I watch no soap operas; I don't even watch rasslin anymore.

I like Shark and Las Vegas, Studio 60 and 30 Rock. I have just never gotten into Desperate Housewives. I used to love My Name is Earl but Smallville is better. I watch UFO Files every Monday and sometimes Digging for the Truth over to the History Channel. I'm eagerly awaiting the return of both Jackie Woodman and The Office

I haven't been watching [adult swim] weeknights for going on three weeks now.
