Kryptonite Discovered in Mine

Kryptonite has been discovered in a mine in an area called Jadar!

When researchers from the mining group Rio Tinto could not match the mineral to any known element, they called in scientists to determine its structure. Researching over the Internet, mineralogist, Chris Stanley, was shocked to discover its elemental makeup already existed in literature: it was stenciled on the side of a box Lex Luthor stole in the film, Superman Returns. The new mineral does not contain fluorine as it does in the film, and it is white (not green) and does not glow, but otherwise, it matches the invented mineral. The researcher called it "the coincidence of a lifetime."

It will be called jadarite after the area in which it was found and not kryptonite as it does not contain krypton, which is an actual element (gas) in the Periodic Table.

Stanley also noted that if the new mineral is found in sufficient quantities, it may have some commercial value.
