Just a few months after we learned that the Justice League movie had not only been grennlighted, but fast-tracked for a 2009 releases under Oscar-winning director, George Miller, comes the news that the project has been indefinitely postponed.
Thanks to the ongoing writers' strike, the Justice League movie has been iced for now. Producers agreed that the script, by Kieran and Michele Mulroney, needed some serious tinkering, which cannot be done until the strike ends.
A skyrocketing budget and contractual conflicts with the young cast were also cited as contributing reasons. While most of the cast are unknowns, they could not sign-on to other deals while under contract to this one - I explained this the other day in an unrelated post. As part of their contracts, which have already been extended once during production, they would have all been due a six-figure paycheck - even if the project fizzles!
Other upcoming DC properties include a new Dark Knight movie and a sequel to 2005's Superman Returns.
