An object held shut by a mundane lock or that is stuck or barred becomes unlocked, unstuck, or unbarred. The object can be a door, a box, a chest, a set of manacles, a padlock, or another object that contains a mundane or magical means that prevents access. If the object has multiple locks, only one of them is unlocked per casting of Knock. If the target is held shut through magical means, that spell is suppressed for d10 Turns, during which time the target can be opened and shut normally.
When you cast the spell, a loud knock, audible from up to 300' away, emanates from the target object. Even if the spell check is failed, this loud report is issued.
Knock does not disable magical nor mundane alarms, nor does it disenchant enchanted items.
The reverse of this, Lock, places a STR 8 Magickal Lock on the object that can only be defeated by using this spell (generally speaking). It cannot be Picked and its nature makes it too complex to be defeated by mundane means.
