TGIF!

Well, my friend departed earlier. I'd hoped he was going to stick around for at least one more day, because he never got his sleep schedule together and we didn't get everything I'd had planned to do done, but the plan was for him to leave today anyway, so I wasn't surprised.
Sci-Fi is running an all-day Dark Angel marathon which will probably be over by the time you read this. I tried to get into Dark Angel several times -- I remember when it was being made and I'm pretty sure I must have caught it at least a few times, then I watched the three-hour Mondays Sci-Fi was showing last year, and I've caught a few episodes here and there since but it just never tickled my fancy. Sci-Fi's new show, The Dresden Files, premieres this Sunday, and I am definitely going to check that out -- that there's pretty much right up my alley.

It just now occurred to me that I never reviewed The Lost Room and I meant to. For now, I'll just say that it's definitely worth seeing, and I'll try to get to it in the future.

My copy of Eisner/Miller finally arrived today and I couldn't be happier! This has a personal history for me, since I saw it on the shelf at a local comic book shop where I used to live just a few weeks after it came out and wanted it then. I blogged about this on The Rundown (on the old site) afterward, because I ended up getting the DK2 hardback instead of Eisner/Miller and I was bitching about the price of comics nowadays and how they haven't really added much "bang" for the extra buck.

Then it was mentioned on Dave Sim's blog (I'm pretty sure it was there) a week or two back and I'd all but completely forgotten about it. I ran over to eBay and snatched me up a copy and I've been waiting for it ever since.

I told you I'd written a couple drafts on the two installments of the Dark Knight saga, comparing and contrasting, and I was going to publish them, but I was waiting for this book because I thought the whole discussion would dovetail nicely and hopefully make for a few days' worth of interesting reading. I'm going to start in on it today, and I'll be tempering my thoughts on Returns and Strikes Back accordingly, and you'll be reading those throughout this next week or the one after that.

I've noticed that, while the traffic here hasn't "slowed down" all that much, the [adult swim] posts are still getting all the hits, so if you're wondering why we haven't been discussing [as] more recently, it's just because they haven't shown more than a handful of new episodes for anything since before Christmas. Believe you me, [as] is an all-too regular part of my every weekend, so if you're looking for more pithy "insight" or observations, keep checking back.

Again, The OddBlog discusses what's going down to The Weirding and a whole lot more, my friend's visit, and my immediate plans for getting "the studio" set up, so go on and check that out. And I've added some more of the blogs I usually read to the blogroll on the right (Steve Bissette's MyRant and Eddie Campbell's Fate o the Artist, in particular) for your perusing enjoyment and daily entertainment.
