Celebri-News Rundown

Okay, many changes afoot as per the past few weeks and the new computer and all, and I'll get to those eventually, but for now, I wanted to bring you some of the celebri-news that's been making headlines the past few days:
  • Fantastic Four and Idle Hands star, Jessica Alba, is all knocked-up. Before allegations are made, that restraining order proves that I couldn... um, it is not mine. The father is actually Alba's 28-year old boyfriend, Cash Warren, whom she met on the set of FF.
  • Author, Terry Pratchett, is suffering from a rare form of early-onset Alzheimer's Disease. The renowned sci-fi/fantasy author of the Discworld series, among others, is 59. He is continuing work on his latest novels and said, "I would prefer it if people kept things cheerful." His latest novel, Making Money, the 36th in the Discworld series, was released earlier this year.
  • Former Buffy the Vampire Slayer starlet, Charisma Carpenter, has requested her estranged husband, from whom she filed for divorce in August, be forced to pay her legal fees, as the WGA strike has left her unemployed. Further, the former Charmed guest-hottie is even requesting spousal support! Carpenter's former husband, Damian Hardy, was working as a hotel bellman when the two met; he is a highschool graduate who made $18k a year. Carpenter pulled down $500k as an actress and Playboy model in 2004.
  • A Christian group lost its battle in the British High Court to prosecute the BBC's director general over the 2005 airing of the Jerry Springer - The Opera musical. Though the network received a record 63,000 complaints when the show aired, two judges ruled that the leader of the Christian group could not go forward with a case to prosecute Mark Thompson on grounds of blasphemy. The BBC called the decision an important win for free speech.
  • 76-year old author, Shelly Saltman, once penned a tell-all book on the late daredevil, Evel Knievel, which got him the hell beat-up by the aforementioned stuntman. Knievel beat the living shit out of Saltman with a baseball bat back in 1977. Saltman successfully sued Knievel for $12.75 million, which he now claims he never received. Saltman is now suing the late daredevil's estate for over $100 million, which he alleges he is due with interest and penalties. In the book Saltman authored, he called Knievel, "an alcoholic, a pill addict, an anti-Semite and an immoral person." While Knievel's actions are fairly reprehensible, it bears noting that Saltman was an investor in the stuntman's failed attempt to jump Snake River Canyon in 1974. Evel Knievel served 6 months in jail for the attack.
  • The Spice Girls' London concert takes place at the O2 Arena tomorrow night. Tickets sold-out 38 seconds after going on sale. Their world tour kicked-off December 2nd in Canada. The Spice Girls sold 55 million records worldwide and appeared in their own film, Spice World. They split-up in 1998 and pursued solo careers with varying degrees of success; most successful is Posh Spice, better known as fashion icon - and footballer, David Beckham's, wife - Victoria Beckham.
And that there's your celebri-news Rundown for this cold and festive December 14th, 2007!
