Tobey Maguire to Return as Spider-Man

Sony spokespeople have confirmed that actor, Tobey Maguire, is close to signing a deal which will have him returning as Peter Parker, the web-slinging wall-crawler himself, in at least two more sequels in the phenomenally successful Spider-Man movie franchise. Further, talks include Sam Raimi, Evil Dead director and writer and director of the other Spider-Man flicks.

The company is planning to shoot the two films back to back in an effort to save money. Spider-Man 4 is set for a tentative 2011 release date; this will be nine years since the first movie was released.

There was no word on the villains to be featured, nor whether or not Kirsten Dunst would reprise her role as Mary-Jane Watson-Parker. Dunst was quoted as having said the franchise would "crumble" without her or Maguire.

Peter Parker was quite the ladies' man for a nerd, though. Throughout the years, he had several loves, including the ill-fated Gwen Stacey and Felicia Hardy (Black Cat).
