Wilmington, NC: Digital Only

At noon Eastern today, Wilmington, NC became the first American city to go to all-digital programming. A message that reads, "If you are viewing this message, this television set has not yet been upgraded to digital" is all analog viewers now see.

Wilmington's percentage of viewers on analog-only TV was below the national average, so it volunteered to become a test market. The rest of the nation will not switch to digital-only programming until February, 2009.

If you subscribe to digital cable/satellite programming, you will not be affected. Otherwise, you must either purchase a new TV set or buy a converter box.
