Still Troubleshooting

Almost a week later and I am still having the same problems. Of course, they need at least x number of customers from my area with the same problem reporting it before they will admit there is actually a problem. And seeing as how I am one of maybe 50 (out of maybe 1500-2000 people, total) in my area who use their services, that's basically not going to happen.

In the meantime, I have changed my entire phone configuration, troubleshot through IE and FF, rolled my computer back to sometime last week, uninstalled and reinstalled software, changed settings, replaced the modem - in short, completely screwed-up my entire home set-up and configuration WHILE KNOWING THE ENTIRE TIME IT WAS THEIR FAULT! Now I'm further behind than ever and it's the first of the month, which means I'll lose the rest of the afternoon to running around, paying bills and so forth.

I've been on hold with them for over 30 minutes now...

I am still unable to stay connected properly. I don't know wtf the problem is, as the tech has been out here twice and we've gone over just about everything it could be...

Still working on it - with a bare-minimum FireFox install using a new profile, I'll add...

I meant to add it's very possible it had everything to do with Zemanta. After uninstalling it, things seem to be running smoothly once again. I started a fresh profile and reinstalled it and started having the same troubles. I uninstalled it and so far, so good (knock wood).

I know none of this is of any interest, whatsoever, to the regular readers of this blog, but there are a few tech-heads out there, so take it for what it's worth.

(P.S.: I noticed at least 2-3 Windows Updates coinciding with this unfortunate event and almost everyone around here has been having connectivity problems, but there was an "ice storm" too [minor - a very minor one - hence the quotes] so it's almost impossible to tell which did what, if either.)
