That's right: Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes have both signed-on to the new Clash of the Titans remake. Further, the two will actually be clashing, as Neeson takes the role of Zeus and Fiennes, the role of Hades, god of the Underworld. Sir Laurence Olivier played Zeus in the 1981 classic upon which the new Clash of the Titans is based.
Neeson and Fiennes join Mads Mikkelsen, Gemma Arterton, and Alexa Davalos under the direction of Louis Leterrier. Sam Worthington has the lead, Perseus - originally portrayed by Harry Hamlin. Filming begins next week and the movie is expected to be released in 2010. This is Neeson's first role since the shocking death of his wife, Natasha Richardson, earlier this year. He had taken the role before her passing.
Clash of the Titans is the adaptation of Greek mythology, which first hit screens in 1981. The classic movie was one of the last big Hollywood films to use stop-motion photography for the special effects, as well as the last film on which legendary stop-motion artist, Ray Harryhausen, worked.
