Phil Spector Found Guilty

In a retrial, a jury took 30 hours to find legendary music producer, Phil Spector, guilty of the 2nd-degree murder of former actress, Lena Clarkson. The original trial was abandoned in 2007, as the jury could not come to a unanimous decision.

Lena Clarkson was initially reluctant to accompany the producer home according to testimony given at the retrial, but he eventually persuaded her. At some point during the evening, a dazed and inebriated Phil Spector exited the house and told his limousine driver, "I think I killed somebody." The driver phoned police and Spector was taken into custody less than an hour after the crime occurred.

Spector's attorney argued that the driver had misheard whatever it was Spector had said. He also said certain negative testimony should not have been allowed. A holster matching the gun used in the shooting was found in a drawer in the foyer, near the body. Spector's attorney argued that the shooting was a suicide.

Spector, who has worked with some of the biggest names in the music business and is a legend in his own right for his "wall of sound" production style, was said to have a "dark side." Characterized as a bully with a penchant for firearms, no fewer than five different women gave testimony as to similar behavior stretching back to the 1970s. This is the evidence Spector's attorney insists should not have been allowed and may prove to be the catalyst for a retrial.

Whoops! I wrote this last night and meant for it to go out at 10:30am this morning; I had accidentally left the setting as PM, so it wouldn't have come out until 10:30 tonight, had I not come by to check!
