I guess we all knew it was too good to be true - well, too good to forge ahead without some setback(s), at least: Columbia Pictures apparently wants a youngert director for the upcoming Ghostbusters III. But Ivan Reitman's "people" may have foreseen this, as his contract apparently contains a clause giving him a hefty amount of creative control. The contract was closed back in the '80s, and sources say that while Reitman can't legally force the studio to make the sequel with him, he can pretty much quash any attempts to make it without him. In fact, all three principles have a similar clause; if any of the four disagree with the direction of the new film, they can veto it, meaning there must be a unanimous decision.
The premise of Ghostbusters III is that the original team returns to train a new, younger one. Columbia wants the three actors to be involved so they can pass the torch, but they aren't so keen on Reitman. According to the same sources, the studio is hoping to bring on Marc Webb.
