Martin Short's wife, actress Nancy Dolman, died suddenly Saturday at age 58. Dolman was diagnosed with cancer in 2007 and underwent surgery that year. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the couple's home Saturday morning and stayed for 30 minutes before departing.
Dolman, best known for her recurring role on the classic TV sit-com, Soap, married Short in 1980, then retired in 1985 to focus on raising the couple's three children. Short is best known for his one-year tenure on Saturday Night Live, where his most popular character was Ed Grimley. He is also known for his work in films such as The Three Amigos and Father of the Bride. He was recently nominated for an Emmy as Best Supporting Actor for his work on FX' Damages.
