Bubba Smith, actor and former NFL defensive end, was found dead in his home yesterday at 66. People my age and non-sports fans probably remember Smith best as "Hightower" from the popular 1980s Police Academy franchise, though he appeared in numerous movies and TV shows including Good Times, Charlie's Angels, and others.
A spokesperson says Bubba Smith's death did not appear suspicious. Our condolences to his friends and family.
