Andre Cassagnes, inventor of the Etch-a-Sketch toy, died at age 86 on January 15, 2013. The Etch-a-Sketch premiered at the Nuremberg Toy Fair in 1959 and hit the market in 1960. It was the top-selling toy that Christmas and has gone on to sell over 100 million units so far. Etch-a-Sketches were made in Ohio by the Ohio Art Company until 2000, when production was moved to China due to rising costs.
