No, this is not a joke: actor, Heath Ledger, was found dead in his Manhattan apartment just a few moments ago.
Sources close to the late actor said "he had been going through a tough time" and was "jumpy" and "withdrawn." A fireman has confirmed that over-the-counter sleeping pills were found on the scene. Unconfirmed reports say that prescription sleeping pills were also found.
It is unknown as to whether this was a suicide or an accidental overdose. Ledger's death comes one week after that of former child-star, Brad Renfro's. No official cause of death has been given for Renfro's demise, as yet.
Heath Ledger was nominated for an Oscar for his role in Brokeback Mountain and was working on the new Batman movie, where he portrays the Joker.
The actor was 28 years old.

New reports are saying that Ledger's death was most likely an accident due to overdose. Prescription drugs found on the scene were anti-anxiety medications, including Valium.
Also, these reports suggest the apartment in which Ledger was found belonged to one of the Olsen twins, but this has not been verified.
