Okay, I was able to replicate the browser problem under IE 7.0 yesterday and see what's going on. I can upgrade to the new Blogger Beta Templates, but the problem is that it is harder to configure. You have to go through adding each element individually and you can't just grab them and move them around; you have to carefully plan which elements go where so that you can code them to end up in the right order. That means I have to decide what comes first, second, third, so on, then code them in reverse order. And if you screw something up, you have to delete all of them to the very last one and start over!
Plus this only works for the sidebar. Apparently, the template that I am using doesn't allow me to add an element beneath the titlebar (which is where I need to place the little banner ads). I know there's some way to manually edit the HTML and get it in there, but I haven't found it yet. I tried several places, but it either ended up in the middle of the page or didn't show up at all. That's why I swapped back to the old template last week (which apparently doesn't work under 7.0).
I know I can't get to it today, but if I don't pass out, I might get to it tonight or tomorrow. Either way, I also have some template work to do on The OddBlog, so I may just set aside the weekend for doing all this coding work.
