The new Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide (#37) is on sale now. In addition to the usual comic books price guide the book is known - and named - for, this year's edition brings a lot of new details serious collectors might be interested in.
First, this year's Overstreet comes with variant covers. I hate variant covers, no matter the product. I hated them in the 1990s when they were first introduced and time has only led to my detesting them more. The difference here is that Overstreet's covers aren't just differently-colored; the requisite hardcover (HC) and softcover (SC) editions both come with your choice of either a New Avengers cover by Mark Sparacio or Supergirl by Billy Tucci - both of whom have worked on both Heroes for Hire and Shi. That's not quite so bad; Overstreet Comic Book Price Guides aren't exactly known for their collectibility anyway, so I guess it's just a matter of personal preference. Prices are $35.00 and $29.95, respectively.
The other new addition is the spiral-bound Big, Big Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide, which features a recreation of the Daredevil #1 cover. If you slide your eyeballs sideways, you might get a hint as to which version this blogger would pick up, were he in the market for a new Overstreet this year. This is the first year the spiral-bound version has been released with the other two.
Lastly (not a bad deal so far, huh?), this years Guide will include articles on Daredevil, Captain America, CGC, and an interview with Bob Overstreet, himself. The color section has been expanded for this edition, as well.
