Rundown 05-15-07 - Shetty and Gere - Comics News - Star Wars - Harry Potter

Here's your Rundown for May 15th, 2007. Buckle-up, y'all:
  • The India Supreme Court has suspended the case(s) against actors Richard Gere and Silpa Shetty. They are reviewing the cases for proper jurisdiction and will take further action at a later date. You'll recall we had an Indian reader comment on my continuing coverage of this story a few weeks back, insisting that it was no big deal and only "extremists" took offense to the whole thing, but it appears the courts are taking it seriously. We'll be watching to let you know.
  • I found this interesting article on Yahoo! yesterday. It talks about how more and more "traditional" writers are turning to the sequential art medium - including Stephen King and Johnathan Lethem. I don't usually include Yahoo! links because they expire quickly, so if you're interested, better check it out now!
  • Star Wars topped the list of the five most-watched films by guys and came in second for women, according to a survey from Sky Movies. Other sci-fi classics that rounded-out the list for guys included Aliens, Terminator, and Bladerunner.
  • Authoress, JK Rowling, is worried that online and other media outlet spoilers for the end to the new Harry Potter book will be leaked and made a plea to readers and reviewers not to give it away.
  • XM Satellite radio shock-jocks, Opie and Anthony, have been suspended, following remarks they and a caller made about Condoleeza Rice on-air. The comments were featured in a powerful piece on Scarborough Country last night that I literally covered at like 4 AM this morning!
And that there's what's going on in your alternative world o' entertainment for May 15th, 2007.
