If you flip on over to the History Channel tonight, they have a back-to-back airing of Star Wars Tech and Star Wars Legacy. The first show looks into the technology involved in the movies and discusses their likelihood, as well as real-world correlations in science and technology. The second delves into how the movies are "a hero's journey," examining the mythology of the series and how it correlates to other mythologies in our real world.
As usual for the network, both are well-made and rise above what you'd expect from other stations. In particular, I always think of A&E, who makes good documentaries along these same lines, that tend to turn into extended commercials toward the end - quite unapologetically, I'll add. History rarely does this. Not to say they haven't or don't, just that even when they present what is basically a product placement show (such as the one they did for 300), it tends to stand above the pack.
The shows are showing through the night, so even if you missed the early showings, you can catch them late-night.
