Kids? I love Marvel - I am a self-avowed and PROUD Marvel Zombie - and I get damned near all the press releases Marvel sends out, but I want to take you down a dark road for just one second:
Back in the 1980s, there was a guy by the name of Jim Shooter (looking for Marvel Mafia Goons) - we'll call him Jim "Salicrup" just to be careful - and he was an editor-in-chief. Now, an editor-in-chief coordinates all things between all editors and makes sure the Talent doesn't have to eff with anyone in a suit.
Suits make Talented People Nervous.
So, JS, when he ran Marvel Comics Group (as it came to be known, after JS put together a phenomenal deal with a small film company known as New Line Entertainment [think Freddy Kreuger - they were New Eggs then]), put together this revolutionary concept that was called a "crossover." In later times, it would come to be known as the "Crossover Event" - usually followed by some descriptive phrase like, "of the Decade" or "of the X-Brand [no pun intended] Universe."
Jim Shooter did all of this.

This is an official Marvel press release:
The hotly anticipated Messiah Complex continues with Chapter Three, appearing in X-Factor #25, as the X-Men set their sights on the mutant-hating Purifiers! Written by acclaimed author Peter David and with powerful art from Scot Eaton (X-Men: Endangered Species One-Shot), this third chapter of the first major X-Men event in ten years continues the X-Men's quest to find the location of the new mutant child. And just what role do Madrox and Layla play in this quest? The shocking answer is revealed!
The early reviews are in and critics are raving about Messiah Complex. "You have a rock-solid premise here with multiple antagonists and different teams of heroes that approach things in different ways," said Troy Brownfield of Newsarama.Com. "I can tell you that with the first issue... they got me."
As the X-Men fight a war on multiple fronts to find the new mutant and protect their species, will their greatest threat come from within? One will lead them, one will betray them…and there's one event that will define them — Messiah Complex!
