Led Zeppelin, one of the greatest rock bands of all time by anyone's standards, reunited last weekend for the first time in nearly 20 years to play before a sold-out crowd at London's O2 Arena.
The show opened with footage from a much younger Led Zeppelin and The Beatles, then the reformed band launched into a 90-minute set, playing many fan favorites, including Good Times, Bad Times; Black Dog; Kashmir; Stairway to Heaven; and many more.
More than 1 million people took part in contests and auctions for the 9000 tickets, with one man from Glasgow having paid $168,500 for his tickets! The show had been postponed due to a finger injury guitarist, Jimmy Page, suffered back in November, but he showed no signs of discomfort. In a moment reminiscent of their glory days, singer, Robert Plant, left the stage while Page regaled the audience with a guitar solo during which he played using a violin bow.
The band consisted of the surviving original members, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, and John Paul Jones, along with late drummer, John Bonham's son, Jason Bonham on percussion. The band has denied rumors of further concerts or a tour, though individual members have said they were not completely opposed to the idea. A spokesperson for the band said they just wanted to do this show and "take it from there."
