Freddy's Back!

Rumor has it the man of your dreams is set to make a big-screen comeback.

New Line Cinema is negotiating with Michael Bay's company, Platinum Dunes, to start a new series of Freddy Krueger films. It is uncertain if the new series will pick up where the old one left off or will begin a new chapter in the ongoing Nightmare on Elm Street saga, but sources say Freddy's resurrection has been a top-priority for New Line Cinema for quite some time now.

Freddy was last seen in 2003's awful Freddy vs. Jason and the last installment in the Nightmare on Elm Street series was 1994's New Nightmare, starring the original victim, Heather Langenkamp, and directed by Wes Craven himself. There is no word as to whether or not the original creator will be involved, nor if the original Freddy Krueger, Robert Englund, will reprise his role.

Unfortunately, it is rumored that the project is shopping for a script from the guys who wrote Freddy vs. Jason.

Yeah, that last one was kinda sad. As a real fan of the original six movis, I wouldn't be happy with some lame-o version.

If you think what made it to the screen was bad, Tim, you should have read the original spec scripts! Oh man... I actually had a link to one of them when we were running it down over to the GeoCities site, but I have no idea where it is or where to find it. I'm not even sure there is still a copy online. I may have saved one on CD somewhere and if I come across it, I may post it on the site, but it isn't worth it.

I love how they refer to it NOW as a "horror-comedy"... it sure as hell wasn't intended that way - it was just that fricking stupid!
