As regular readers well know, The Rundown (and all The Weirding blogs) accept sponsored posts and reviews. While some do not appreciate this, it is simply one way we try to get compensated for the time and work we put in here.
Not to mention it's a win-win-win situation, usually: advertisers are able to reach you, you get to learn about products and services you otherwise might not have been made aware of, and we get paid. And it really does work that way: I have learned about a number of products and services I now use from doing sponsored posts - services and products I know I would not have heard of otherwise!
Now, a new sponsored post blogging network is ready to launch. While details have been kept hush-hush all this while, iHype.com Launches soon and is already taking-on both publishers and advertisers! Even if you aren't interested in doing sponsored posts as a source of revenue, you might consider doing them as a stream of advertising: do $100 worth of sponsored posts, then turn around and spend $100 on advertising through the network, having others advertise your blog on their own!
Sponsored posts are a great way to make a little extra money off your blogs and, if your site is largely text-based (like The Weirding), makes far more sense as a primary source of income than other forms of monetization. Give iHype a shot and see what you think!
