In a recent press interview, the remaining co-stars of the forthcoming The Dark Knight talked-up Heath Ledger's performance in the movie, with several of them agreeing he should get at least an Oscar nod.
Co-stars, Christian Bale, Aaron Eckhart, and Gary Oldman, all agreed that Ledger's performance is above and beyond the normal scope of such roles, of which Oldman said, "The Academy tends to overlook movies like this..."
Director, Chris Nolan, said Ledger shocked him with early conversations concerning the role, noting that he studied the way ventriloquist dummies talk, along with a host of other "peculiar" sources in order to bring the character together. "He's raised the bar," said Bale.
Should the Oscar go to Ledger, it would be only the second time in Academy history: the first (and only) posthumous Oscar was awarded Peter Finch for his role in the Cyberpunk-inspired Network.
In a recent interview, Bale also laid to rest the notion that Ledger was "disturbed" by the role.

The entire Heath Ledger situation will only increase the impact of this movie. It's interesting that this type of tragedy will probably bring out many people who otherwise wouldn't have "tuned in." That being said, if the trailers are any indication of what we can expect in the full movie, Heath's performance will be impressive. I'm looking forward it. - Sean
Ledger's co-stars are still talking him up.
