Ernie will love this! Note the last line: "irrevocably altered"! HAHAHAHAHAHA!
Them Mighty Mutant Marvel Men had to thumb through the thick thesaurus to find a new phrase for CHANGE THE MARVEL UNIVERSE FOREVER! What I wouldn't have given to be a fly on the wall at that meeting! I bet eyes were bulging, forehead veins were thumping, and fingers were clicking across keyboards quicker than a crackhead runs a block!
So now we will have to find something else to harp-on, as they have CHANGED THE MARVEL PRESS RELEASE FOREVER with this new turn of phrase.
Oh, and this is from Marvel and it's OFFICIAL FOREVER:
The top-selling event of the year continues to steamroll over the competition as Marvel is proud to announce more Secret Invasion tie-in sell outs! Secret Invasion: Fantastic Four #2, Ms Marvel #28, Secret Invasion: Runaways/Young Avengers #1, Mighty Avengers #15 and Avengers: The Initiative #14 have all sold out at Diamond (though copies may be available at the retail level).
Marvel currently has no plans to go back to press on these issues which reveal secrets behind the Skrull invasion! How were Hank Pym and Spider-Woman replaced? What can the Human Torch and the Thing do to save the FF? What secret does 3-D Man hold? What do the Skrulls want with Hulking and Xavin? All these answers and more have been revealed — but do you know the truth and who you can trust?
With quick sell outs of virtually all Secret Invasion tie-ins, Marvel urges retailers to check their orders on future issues of Secret Invasion: Fantastic Four, Ms Marvel, Secret Invasion: Runaways/Young Avengers, Mighty Avengers and Avengers: The Initiative! There’s no comic event this year like Secret Invasion and as the story continues, the Marvel Universe finds itself altered irrevocably!

Y'know when it comes to the Marvel Universe nothing is ever irrevocable. Give them a couple of years and the Kree or the Shi'ar or somebody will come along and use the Cosmic-Infinity-Gaunlet-Cube-Crystal from the House of Secret Invading M, and then the Marvel Universe will be irrevocably ret-conned...again. I think I'm starting to become cynical.
My pull-list was cut from somewhere around 25 titles/month to right around 10. After Green Arrow: Year One, I've fallen completely in love with GA, but I've yet to pick-up on Birds of Prey. I've been waiting for a new Dr. Fate... something for years, and then DC scrapped the mini and squashed it into that Mystery title and I had no idea until it was already halfway in, so I have the last 3-4 issues but can't read them yet.
I'm just... I picked up the X-Men after 15 years, just because everyone's so excited about "the new direction" - there's an overused phrase we could harp-on!
I'm just... I'm with you, man. What are you reading? And do you like it?
Well, I a little bit ashamed to admit that I got sucked into both Secret Invasion and Final Crisis (incidentally just a heads up for everyone I may let slip a spoiler or two here so be forewarned). As far as the first one goes it's not bad but it's nothing great. Mostly I'm just waiting for them to reveal that Captain America was a Skrull when he was shot and Spidey was one when he made his "Brand New Day" deal (or maybe it was Mephisto). If neither of those events occur, then I will be shocked. Final Crisis: when I read the first one and discovered it was the Martian Manhunter that they killed off, I was completely stunned...by my utter lack of any feeling whatsoever. Maybe because the character was never interesting to me or maybe because everytime someone gets killed off in the DC Universe (or Marvel for that matter) they find some way to bring them back. For example: Green Arrow, Green Lantern, Blue Beatle, Supergirl, Superman, Robin (Jason Todd) and, from the looks of the last page of Final Crisis #2, Barry Allen (at long last). So, yeah; maybe it will improve as it progresses.
Boy I could just go on and on but I'll just summarize a few others for you. The "New Exiles" were better as The Old Exiles, "Batman and The Outsiders" was better as The Outsiders, "Red Sonja" is still kicking ass and taking names and looking phenomenally hot whilst doing so, "The Dark Tower" is probably the best comic Marvel is putting out right now (which is a real understatement of how good it is),"The Ultimates" would be a lot better if it didn't take six months between issues, and I'm really enjoying "The Dresden Files" and all of the assorted adventures of Drizz't Do'urden. That covers almost half of what I'm reading. It may just be time to do a little weeding of my own.
