Viz Seeking Original Work

ICv2 reports that Viz Media is seeking original sequential art for publication.

In particular, at this point, they are seeking 1-3 page stories told in a "fleet, natural style," as back-up material for their new Shojo Beat. They are most interested in material from people who have actually spent time in Japan. Viz takes care to note that they are not just looking for what Americans consider "manga," but what the Japanese consider "manga" - which is a broad range of comic books.

Of course, the hopeful end result is to find full-length material suitable for comic book publication in any of a number of formats, according to whatever best fits the content. And not just for North American consumption.

Viz will be reviewing portfolios at the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con, but you can also contact them for more information on submissions through their website.
