I started to write this last night when it happened, but I wasn't sure if it was live or not, so I figured it would be fine to wait, but I was there and saw it when it happened:
Michael Phelps now has 11 gold medals - more than any Olympic athlete in history - and he broke about 234097 World Records getting them.
The IOC has decided to pull baseball, softball, and basketball from the Olympics roster because the American teams simply dominate. So long as Phelps continues to compete (and we can expect him to attend at least one more Olympics), they may as well add swimming to the list.
So far, the 4x400 relay, with it's "fingernail" finish has been the real highlight of these games, but this is only Day 5!
