The actor who portrayed the brawny "Mr. Clean" of the cleaning product by the same name has died at age 92.
House Peters Jr.'s iconic bald head and hoop earring was the face of the popular Mr. Clean household cleaning products in the 1950s and 60s. He appeared in hundreds of commercials, as well as scores of feature films and TV episodes. He retired following his last episode of Lassie, where he portrayed the recurring role of Sheriff Jim Billings. He appeared in such classics as Gunsmoke, Wagon Train, and The Lone Ranger, often as the muscular bad guy.
In 2000, Peters Jr. was awarded the Golden Boot award for lifetime contributions to the Western genre.
