Actor Bob May, who played the voice of the robot in the classic sci-fi TV series, Lost in Space, died Sunday morning of congestive heart failure at 69. May had suffered a stroke last year and was taken to the Lancaster Community Hospital in California last Friday.
Bob May began his career as a stuntman before going on to acting. He appeared in a number of TV series and films, most notably The Nutty Professor, at the height of his career in the 1960s. He appeared as the voice of the robot on Lost in Space for the entirety of the series' run - from 1965 to 1968. A movie based on the series was made in 1998 but did not feature May and was not well-received.
