Bea Arthur, star of such TV sit-com classics as Maude and The Golden Girls has died. Spokespersons say she died at home of cancer at age 86.
Arthur won Emmys for both Maude and Golden Girls, as well as a Tony for the musical, Mame. She told reporters she wasn't concerned about typecasting. She landed her first big "break" (a role on All in the Family which led to Maude) at age 50, though she had been doing TV, movies, and stage plays for years.
She was last seen reading a selection from Pamela Anderson's book on Comedy Central's Roast of the Playboy bunny.
