Talk show and media icon, Oprah Winfrey, will be the featured subject of an upcoming issue of Bluewater Productions' Female Force biography comic series.
The monthly series, which focuses on strong and influential women who are shaping modern history and culture, will document Oprah's early childhood traumas through her rise to one of the wealthiest and most powerful people in the world. It follows her multi-faceted career as news anchor, Oscar-nominated actress, award-winning producer, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and, of course, talk show queen.
"When you conjure up the concept of 'Female Force,' there are very few who immediately come to mind and Oprah’s name rises to the top of that list," said Bluewater president Darren Davis, "Her influence on our culture has been profound."
The title, which will be available this September, is written and drawn by Female Force: Michelle Obama artist, Joshua LaBello. Vinnie Tartamella, who illustrated the covers for all the other issues in the series, will again provide the cover.
"She might not wear a cape, but she is some kind of super hero to a great many people," Labello said, "Despite a childhood riddled with abuse and adversities, she turned her wounds into wisdom, grabbed hold of every opportunity, and reached a level of success that practically redefines the term."
Female Force offers a broad examination of powerful women. Past issues include Hillary Clinton, Michelle Obama, and Sarah Palin. Female Force: Caroline Kennedy will be in stores June 24th.
