Danny Boyle - famed director of Trainspotting, 28 Days Later, Slumdog Millionaire, and others - is returning to the theater, beginning with an elaborate stage production of Mary Shelley's classic tale of Gothic horror, Frankenstein. This will be Danny Boyle's debut at the prestigious National Theater, but prior to working in film, Boyle staged many productions at Royal Court theater and with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Nick Dear, the playwright who adapted Shelley's classic, told reporters it would be a period piece, set in the 19th-Century, but with Boyle's "personal style." The performances are expected to be filmed in HD.
