It's official: former Golden Girl, Betty White, will host Saturday Night Live over the Mother's Day weekend. White, whose many credits include The Mary Tyler Moore Show, six Emmys, the aforementioned Golden Girls, and numerous daytime game shows, was recently given a Lifetime Achievement Award by SAG (the Screen Actors' Guild). She is 88.
A Facebook group calling for Betty White to host is credited for the move, though White told reporters SNL mastermind, Lorne Michaels, had approached her to host in the past. She turned the opportunity down for scheduling reasons, but admitted fear played a part as well.
