So it looked like it was going to storm and I needed to get the mail. I hopped on the bike and, about halfway to the mailbox, the wind picked-up - really picked-up! So I get the mail and I'm headed back to the house when something behind me goes POP!
No more than five feet in front of me, a live electrical wire falls and falls and falls and coils together. I, on the bike with mail in-hand, mouth agape, am wondering WTF I'm supposed to do - can I walk over the wire, or will the electricity arc out and light me up? I don't need to ride over the wire, especially since the bike is all metal and shit, so do I leave the bike there? Is the phone dead? Can I even get to my house?
Well, I waited for a moment and listened, but heard no hum or crackle, and the wire wasn't moving, so I carefully stepped over the middle of it, as far away from the end of it as I could find, then called the electric company. They just left.
So more tomorrow.
