Megan Fox says she would love to star in a remake of the 1987 horror/comedy classic, Lost Boys, but admits she would hate to see it remade at all. The original starred a bevy of then up-and-coming actors, including Keifer Sutherland and Jason Patric, as well as the Coreys. It was to become the late Corey Haim's best-known role.
Fox says the female character, played by Jami Gertz, "is not really amazing," but says if one of the male leads were changed to a female, she would be interested. However, she goes on to say a remake would "destroy" the original. While I, and I figure pretty much everyone else, agree that a remake is unnecessary and could never do the original Lost Boys justice, I disagree that "Star," the female lead, was "not really amazing." She also got a lot more screen-time than some of the lesser male leads.
Corey Feldman starred in an incredibly poor, direct-to-DVD, sequel entitled Lost Boys 2: The Tribe, which was released in 2008 to deservedly poor reviews -- even Feldman admits "They couldn't get it right." However, he is excited about the second sequel, Lost Boys 3: The Thirst, which is in production and includes deleted scenes featuring Corey Haim. "Corey wasn’t able, at that point in his life, to deliver what we needed," Feldman said. Lost Boys 3: The Thirst, also direct-to-DVD, will be released later this year.
