Series creator, Eric Kripke, says "the timing was right" to leave Supernatural, as it reached the end of its five-year storyline. Kripke says he felt the time was right to "take a step back and focus on new projects." Executive producer, Sera Gamble, is set to take the reins. Gamble has been with Supernatural for several years. Kripke will stay on in an advisory role.
Kripke also said he would definitely be writing at least one episode this season and has been present for the pitches of all the other episodes in Supernatural's sixth season, so far.
