Burt Ward played the effervescent sidekick to Adam West's Batman on the campy 1960's TV show, Batman. Before that, Burt Ward was known as the youngest ice skater ever, and later, he became an activist and now runs Boy Wonder Visual Effects, which -- true to its name -- provides the visual effects for many productions. Though he has reprised his role numerous times in the past, including 2003's Return to the Batcave: The Misadventures of Adam and Burt, Burt Ward has since announced that he will no longer do personal appearances in order to concentrate on his family and canine rescue organization.
Ward's real last name is Gervis, but he chose his mother's maiden name, Ward, as his stage name because he feared fans wouldn't know how to pronounce "Gervis." Though he never found the sort of onscreen fame his counterpart, Adam West, did, Burt Ward appeared in many TV movies and productions over the years.
Burt Ward is 65 today.
