Late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel will host the Emmys this year, according to an announcement released Monday. Kimmel joked that he "hoped to do for the Emmys what Eddie Murphy did for the Oscars." Murphy pulled out of hosting the Academy Awards following disparaging remarks made by director Bret Ratner concerning gay people.
