Jan Berenstain was one-half of the team behind the Berenstain Bears, characters who appeared in dozens of children's books throughout the years since the 1960s. She died on February 12th, 2012. Her husband, the other half of the Berenstain writer/illustration team, died in 2005. Their son Michael will continue writing and illustrating the Berenstain Bears' exploits. He worked with his parents from the 1990s to his mother's death.
Jan and Stan Berenstain also had an illustrated series in McCall's magazine, and wrote a book on raising babies.
