I had seen this movie on the Sci-Fi Channel (before it became SyFy) and thought it was a nice little flick then but the edited version doesn't hold a candle to the actual thing. This is a fine film. Well-made, well-acted, and well-written, it establishes the story and characters quickly then moves right into the action. The main flaw is the CGI which is sometimes too obvious. The director uses it cleverly though so that those scenes are minimal and generally quick. The only other complaint is that the leads, who are absolutely gorgeous together, have no chemistry.
Frankenfish is a science-run-amok type of movie that's almost as much sci-fi as horror but only in concept; its approach is pretty solid monster movie horror fare. But don't let me sell it short - again, I really enjoyed this movie.
Recommended.
