Vamp is a YA flick from 1985 that is marked by brilliant lighting and decent acting. Grace Jones makes perhaps her most memorable onscreen appearance as the lead vampiress. There is a bit of gore despite its obviously young target audience. The leads are fresh out of highschool and the dialogue is often smartassed.
One of the things I noticed while watching this movie was how it wasn't as tightly controlled as the movies today. The story bounces around, playing between multiple antagonists and moving quickly from set to set. The lighting is truly inspired and drives a lot of the visuals while the music is almost completely forgettable. In fact, Vamp's greatest failing is that it too is very forgettable.
An enjoyable movie, especially for young horror fans.
