Arrested Development Coming to Netflix in 2013

It's confirmed: Netflix will run six new episodes of Arrested Development as a lead-in to the new film. The six episodes are being shot now and won't be available on the streaming service until next year (2013). Each episode will focus on one member of the Bluth family and fill audiences in on their lives since the series' cancellation in 2006. These stories will lead up to the Arrested Development movie.

Arrested Development Movie News

Arrested Development creator, Mitch Hurwitz, says the script for the movie is "halfway through." He says the process has been slow because of... us! Hurwitz says he is "cagey" because he really wants to please the fans, as well as the cast. "It's not going to be a big money-maker; it's going to be fun, like a family reunion."

Hurwitz also mentioned that scheduling could be an issue in getting the original cast together. He refused to give any more information on the Arrested Development movie, saying even a title or logline would give "too much away."

Hurwitz spoke at the Television Critics Association press tour yesterday, where he appeared to discuss his new Fox show, Running Wilde.

Arrested Development Reunion?

Arrested Development alumni, Mitch Hurwitz (creator), Jim Vallely (producer), and Will Arnett (star) are looking to get back onto Fox' primetime schedule. A new project, co-written by Arnett and Hurwitz, about a rich "jackass" who falls in love with a charitable "tree-hugger" who detests his views and lifestyle is in the works. The unnamed project will star Arnett as the Beverly Hills jackass. Arnett will also serve as a producer.

For some time now, it had been rumored that an Arrested Development movie was already underway, with only Michael Cera holding-out, however Cera eventually came onboard and told reporters he expected shooting to start this year. The movie, Arrested Development, is expected to be released in 2011.

Sources close to the project say lone hold-out, Michael Cera (Superbad, Juno), has finally agreed to do the Arrested Development movie. Ron Howard, the director and executive producer of the TV series, told Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet, "We've now been asked to stop offering any details... but it's looking good."

Now, wait a minute... you've got the chance to play a part you created in a full-length feature film directed by Ron Howard, alongside such castmembers as Jason Bateman, Jeffrey Tambor, Jessica Walter, Henry Winkler, and many more, and you were holding-out!? What, exactly, were you "holding-out" for, Mr. Superbad? Who do you think you are - George friggin' Clooney!?

Get a clue, little boy.
