RIP Phyllis Diller, Joe Kubert

The entertainment industry lost two legends in their respective fields this month: Phyllis Diller and Joe Kubert. Both were advanced in age, so it was not shocking, but it certainly is a great loss.

I attended a Joe Kubert School of Cartoon & Graphic Art weekend session way back when I was in highschool and really enjoyed it. Kubert was a great guy, full of great advice, and the classes gave you a real insight into what it was like to work in the industry at the time. It was thrilling to meet all three Kuberts then, especially since I was too young to truly appreciate what Joe Kubert had accomplished in the field and his sons had yet to rise to prominence.

Both will be greatly missed and we wish their families the best.

RIP: Muriel Kubert

2008 has been a terrible year for entertainment. So many have passed away and the year is just halfway through! Unfortunately, Muriel Kubert must now be added to the list of those lost.

Wife of comic books legend, Joe Kubert, and mother to Adam and Andy (as well as three others), Muriel Kubert worked as the administrator of the famous Joe Kubert College of Sequential Art, which she co-founded with her husband in 1976.

Muriel Kubert died of breast cancer. Our condolences go out to the Kubert family and their friends.
