I had never heard of Indoor Water Parks, but now that I have, I have got to go. My red hair and fair skin made going to a water park an absolute nightmare I was all too happy to endure in my youth. I can't count the number of times I paid for a single day's worth of water park fun with a two week sunburn featuring water blisters the size of a small child's fist.
An Indoor Water Park sounds like a great weekend getaway and Great Wolf Lodge is offering great deals on Labor Day packages. I suppose it is technically a kids' retreat, but a few cannonballs off the high-dive ought to clear the way. Seriously though, Great Wolf is perfect for families and kids of all ages.
Every Great Wolf Lodge and Water Park offers a host of Activities for Kids, both in and out of the water. There's the MagiQuest Wand Shop, where they can battle dragons; Totem Towers extreme water slides; and more. For grown-ups, there's the Majestic Bear Suite, the Bear Essentials Swim Shop, and more.
Great Wolf has more than just Indoor Activities for Kids, like mini-golf, Scooops activities, the Wolf Walk, and more. Many of the activities depend on which Great Wolf Lodge you visit, and there are over 10 in places like Kansas City, Niagara Falls, and Grapevine, Texas.
Each Great Wolf Lodge hosts one of the Largest Indoor Water parks in the area. They have suites for adults, suites for families, and even Kids Suites just for the youngsters. Make your Labor Day - or any day - truly spectacular with a visit to any of Great Wolf's majestic locations.

Old City Blues is as beautiful as it is confusing. Part of this is due to the setting and genre (cyberpunk), which demands gritty, cartoonish realism. Old City Blues is set in Athens, 2049. Cyborgs are common and hold high positions of authority. The old city was washed away by flooding and the new one is falling apart. Appleseed is the most obvious influence and can be seen in every aspect of the book, but Old City Blues is quite original without being so self-involved that it shuts readers out.
Apparently done completely in ink and toner sans pencils, artist Giannis Milonogiannis' major problem is a lack of solids. The toner use is great, but there are literally no solid blacks or negative space, leaving a jumbled mess of lines, dots, and sound effects the reader is forced to wade through. Only the cars are clean and clean-lined, and they are often marred by action lines.
Milonogiannis is best with non-living objects and plants. He needs work in the anatomy department, though his cartooning is great. Every character's personality is evidenced by one or more physical features - just the way it ought to be - however I was left wondering if Giannis can go deeper. He also likes to use hands to relay story, but his hands are not well-rendered. He does overcome this though, as he uses this technique several times and I followed what he was imparting each time.
The fight scenes are sometimes easy to follow, sometimes a mess. Obviously manga-inspired, the clearest ones are action lines and open spaces; the rest are action lines, scrawl, and sound effects.
Speaking of which, Giannis relies far too heavily on sound effects. They are shakily-rendered and often unnecessary. They should be cleaner and clearer, and incorporated into the scene instead of serving in its stead. Not only do they overwhelm, the sound effects sometimes replace the action they are imparting.
The lettering is also an issue. The only way I can describe it is "frenetic." Although I'm one of the most vocal supporters of hand-lettering, Old City Blues would have benefited from straightforward computer text. Even the balloons look shaky and sketchy. All of this is done to affect the mood, tone, and atmosphere Milonogiannis is going for, but it's overwrought.
All that said, Giannis' work is impressive. The story is great and uses no blurbs; Old City Blues is told entirely through art and dialogue (and sound effects), the way a good comic should be. That isn't easy. Milonogiannis' pacing is his best quality. The story flows well, and keeps the reader's attention all the way through. In fact, I read the entire thing in one sitting.
Do not mistake me, I love Milonogiannis' work, it's just too busy, and the subject matter leaves him little room for much else. Giannis needs more solids and negative space, and fewer lines and hatches. I realize what he is going for here, but it needs to be scaled back a bit; you can do "gritty" without scribbling.
As always, Archaia's presentation is rivaled by none. This is one of the few hardcovers I've seen from them without a dustjacket and it doesn't need one. The choice of yellow for the cover sets the tone of the story before you open the book, and the depressioned art is a stroke of pure genius.
Old City Blues is a collection of the webcomic, which can still be found online and actually looks better there. However, the hardbound is an absolute must-have, and I'm proud to have it in my collection. It's prominently displayed on my bookshelf, where it will be read and re-read by myself and others, probably as we play Cyberpunk. I can't wait to see more of Giannis Milonogiannis' work.
Highly recommended!

It is almost that time - time for my favorite holiday, my favorite time of the year - that's right: Halloween! If you are as serious about Halloween as I am, you will need supplies. I decorate the entire house, both inside and out, with lights, pictures, cards, and all manner of fun things. Most of this stuff is available at your local party supply store, if you have one. If you do not have one, US Toy has got you covered - they are probably even cheaper than your local outlet, so be sure to check them out.
US Toy is more than just a Halloween supply center; it carries supplies for every party and event throughout the year, including birthdays, back to school, holidays and seasonal events, and more. They even have things like awards and award ribbons, carnival masks, novelty items, and other stuff. US Toy is more than just a party supply store.
Halloween and back to school parties are in-season, but you do not need a reason to throw a party. Parties are a great way to meet neighbors, your kids' friends and their parents, and get to know your fellow workers. US Toy has all the novelty items, decorations, and carnival games you need to make your party a total success, so check them out today.

I am a small guy, so my warm season wardrobe consists of little more than safety-pinned cargo shorts and T-shirts, but my winter wardrobe is an actual (near) wardrobe of dr. martens shoes, four or five coats, sweaters, even scarves. Hey, nice scarves are nice! However, I've had my entire wardrobe - for all seasons - for too long now; it's time for me to get off my behind and go shopping for new clothes!
Fall is my favorite time of the year and I think fashion is naturally geared toward cooler weather anyway. After all, there is hardly an appropriate time to wear hunter boots in warm weather... unless you happen to be hunting. In fall and winter, hunter boots can go with many outfits and wouldn't demand a second glance.
Now, I'm not going full-force - I mean, you aren't likely to see me in a woolrich arctic parka - but I am definitely going to upgrade my winter and fall selection this year. Hoodies are out of date and the ones I have are out of my current size, but sweaters are appropriate for just about anywhere and any time as long as it's cool enough to warrant wearing one. I have no idea what's "in" and what's "out" this year, so I'm going to follow these links and have a look around, then melt the old credit card and look good for winter 2011!
I know these are women's clothes, but you have to know what to look like and men's fashion is usually the same kind of thing, year after year; I want to know how to dress so that people know I'm with the good-looking, well-dressed woman.

Sorry things have been so lackluster lately. I have a lot of comic books to review and things along those lines, but I hurt my heel. I've no idea what, exactly, is wrong with it but I'm thinking I pulled something. I had to walk five to six miles down the road about two months back and after that is when I noticed it. It could be a lot of things, but I can feel the pain particularly when I stretch my leg, so I don't think it's a bone spur or anything like that.
Anyway, it hurts more when I stay on the computer for long periods of time, and I can't help but do that once I sit down here. So I'm trying to stay off the computer every day or two, and it's messing with my schedule but I'm trying to work it all in. I'm not posting excuses, I just thought you deserved an explanation because I know it's been sketchy here lately.
Please take a moment to check out The Weirding, where I've spent a lot of time the last few months tightening things up, and updating the whole site. I keep coming across little gaffes and goofs - even on pages I just published this past weekend - but The Weirding is an attempt at art as much as a website, and I think you'll enjoy just looking at it if you dig comics. I am working to make it easier to navigate and enjoy just for itself, but I really do think you'll dig it.

Sorry for the late start, but I had something scheduled and mistakenly thought it was for today. I got the Thor teaser up, but starting this late out of the gates was an accident. I worked on the site all weekend and did not sleep very well last night, so I'm taking it easy. I also somehow lost an e-mail that I wanted to use and am having to search and ask around for that.
Anyway, sorry about the late start and I'll do what I can for the rest of today, but this is a very busy week for me, so I have no idea what to tell you to expect. Celebrity cruises is the world-famous cruise line that lets you see what it is like to be a star everyday (every day you are on the cruise of your choice, at least). The shore excursions allow you to become part of the locale's everyday fabric during your brief stay - so much so in fact, that they call them "shore immersions." Celebrity cruiseline also hosts celebrity chefs while still serving the regular menu across the fleet.
Celebrity runs nine cruise ships. You can learn more about each one from the website. They offer celebrity cruises the world over - from Alaska to Australia, and all points between, as well as great discounts and specials from its website. You can find them on Cruise Vacation Center, too.
Once you are on the Cruise Vacation Center site, you can choose your destination and vacation period to find a cruiseline running there and then. You can also call a service representative for more information. It is fast, simple, and fun to plan your cruise vacation.

Eisner Award-winning publisher Archaia Entertainment will debut its first softcover title, Awakening Omnibus, at Baltimore Comic Con, it was announced today by Archaia Editor-in-Chief, Stephen Christy.
Known for its reputation for publishing beautifully designed, high-quality hardcover graphic novels, Archaia ensures the Awakening Omnibus will be produced under the same high standard of quality in an eye-catching, sturdy and durable softcover volume.
Awakening Omnibus, by writer Nick Tapalansky and artist Alex Eckman-Lawn, tells the story of a small town besieged by a series of bizarre deaths. When the town crazy suggests a zombie outbreak, retired detective Derrick Peters sets out on an investigation that will prove whether this witness is truly insane, or whether reality itself has a taken a bizarre turn into the macabre. The Omnibus collects material previously published in two hardcover volumes.
“The Awakening Omnibus softcover is the perfect way to introduce this title to new readers, especially since copies of the Volume 1 hardcover are no longer available at our distributors,” said Archaia Editor-in-Chief Stephen Christy. “Our intention is to open Archaia to a new market of readers who may have never read one of our books before, and with softcovers, we believe we can entice that group to give us a try.”
The Awakening Omnibus (softcover, full color, 320 pages, $24.95, ISBN-13: 9781936393213) goes on sale Sept. 7th in comic book shops, but Tapalansky and Eckman-Lawn will debut copies of the book at Baltimore Comic Con on Aug. 20-21st, held at the Baltimore Convention Center.
Archaia plans to continue offering quality softcover titles in the months to come, including Fraggle Rock Classics Vol. 1, a digest-sized collection of Fraggle Rock comics from the 1980s. Subsequent softcover titles will be announced for release in 2012.

For the fifth consecutive year, Image Comics and Top Cow Productions proudly announce this year's Pilot Season titles and creative teams. This year's contestants for the comics industry's premiere fan-driven initiative include award winners, screenwriters, stellar art teams, and even a Chicago Bear.
The rules to PILOT SEASON are simple: Each competing team gets a one-shot "pilot issue" comic book to win over fans. When all the books have been released in direct market stores and digital partners, the fans take control and vote on their favorite series. The winner of Pilot Season gets the greenlight to produce a series to be released at a later date through Top Cow Productions. Last year, over a million votes were cast for winner 39 MINUTES, written and created by William Harms (IMPALER) with art by Jerry Lando.
"After five years, PILOT SEASON has become a comic industry institution that really embodies Top Cow's mantra of 'We Create...' and gives fans unprecedented control,” commented Top Cow Publisher Filip Sablik. “This year's slate of contenders is the most diverse in creators and genres yet.”
All PILOT SEASON one-shots are 32-page full color comic books that will go on sale for $3.99.

Sorry for the slow posting lately, but I am working on The Weirding website - like, my fingers to the bone. I had no idea so many of the pages - entire sections - were so messed-up. Like I said elsewhere, it isn't like I don't check these things before (and after) I publish them, so I don't know exactly how that happened the way it did, but it also isn't like I tour through the site just on occasion, either.
I know I'm supposed to and all, I just don't - or haven't up to now, anyway.
I'm trying to get everything in order for the 31 Days of Horror Movie reviews thing here. I always update The Weirding on Halloween and this year will be no different, but in order to do all of this, I need to have my little ducks in a row and that's why I've been busting my ass on the site the last several months. As usual, this year will feature new Chill material, though I can't say what nor how much.
Press releases have been a bit slow lately too, except for the teasers from Marvel, so I just haven't had much to post. But October is looking good for the movie reviews, so far, and the site is looking a million times better.
Again, sorry about that, but some of that may have been browser/monitor issues. I'm not sure. Also, I know few people are interested in this stuff, but it's all I've been doing for months now, and it leaves little time for anything else, so I don't have much else to talk about. Now that the majority of it is out of the way, I can get back to reviewing comics and all the normal stuff, but I still have some pages to get to, so it isn't all clear just yet.
I've been watching a lot of Hulu lately at nights and I posted about it over to The Cyberculturalist (why, I'm not sure; I probably should have posted it here). It's just a post about what I've been watching with links, if you're interested. Aside from that, this really is all I've been doing! ... For. Weeks.

Buying my first place was really exciting but in order for me to afford the mortgage I had to get a roommate for the second bedroom since it would have just been me and the dog and he doesn't pay rent! My best friend Dave moved in and things were going fine at first we both liked ExpertSATELLITE.com for our satellite service and even cheered for the same team on gamedays but it didn't take long before Dave really started to get on my nerves. He's a great guy but he is some kind of messy and I'm a real neat freak so after a while his opened food and clothes strewn everywhere really got on my nerves. I tried talking to him about it but it didn't really seem to sink in so now I'm kind of lost as to what to do. I don't want to end up hating him but his messiness really drives me up the wall so I'm in a weird position?

There was a time that reading a comic book in class was a one-way ticket to detention. However, as educators seek new and innovative ways to inspire learning and comprehension, publisher Bluewater Productions takes the next step in unveiling a series of multi-discipline lesson plans that incorporate graphic novels and, yes, comic books.
Developed in partnership with educator and driving force behind the popular resource The Graphic Classroom, Chris Wilson, educators and librarians can access a free and fully developed lesson plan that incorporates several of Bluewater’s non-fiction titles.
“I know that reading is a problem for many students today. I feel strongly that comics and graphic novels can be one way that we can combat this problem. Graphics novels should be in every public school library and classroom library.” said Wilson.
The lesson plans, available through Bluewater, incorporate a multi-discipline analysis of several biographical graphic novels and comic books including language, historical perspective, conceptual thinking, decision-making, and other skills appropriate for elementary and middle school students. The plans use a variety of exercises, talking points and activity prompts.
In the first collection available this August, educators can choose from a selection of current historical figures such as Hillary Clinton, Sarah Palin, and Michelle Obama, influential modern authors like SE Hinton, JK Rowling, and Stephenie Meyer, or a variety of culturally-impactful celebrities like Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift.
“I was one of those students in danger of falling through the cracks,” said Bluewater president Darren Davis. “I was a borderline student and a poor reader. But once I discovered comic books, I couldn’t put them down. My vocabulary increased; my comprehension improved. I can honestly say that comic books gave me the confidence I needed to eventually tackle Shakespeare and Steinbeck.”
Bluewater, based in Vancouver, WA, strives to entertain comic book fans, but also support schools and library systems by holding educational seminars, literacy programs, speaking tours and hands-on events while providing reading material that capture and engage the reader in a literary and visual manner.
Wilson’s The Graphic Classroom is a resource for teachers and librarians to help them stock high quality, educational-worthy, graphic novels and comics in their classroom or school library. Wilson reads and reviews every graphic novel or comic on this website and rates its appropriateness for the classroom.
Over the next several months additional lesson plans will be released using Bluewater’s vast library of titles. They include several biography titles that have received national attention: Female Force, Political Power, Fame, and Orbit series. Samples of each title are available on the Bluewater website.
There is no cost for the lesson plans. Copies of the individual issues and graphic novels are available at a significant discount for classroom use. These can be ordered directly through Bluewater Productions.

You've read about it, you've heard about it, now it's here. Up-and-coming writer Sam Humphries' (CBGB, Fraggle Rock) and Steven Sanders' (FIVE FISTS OF SCIENCE, Uncanny X-Men: The Heroic Age), provocative sci-fi one-shot OUR LOVE IS REAL is coming to Image Comics this November after capturing the attention of the comics industry over the summer.
Set in the not-too-distant future, OUR LOVE IS REAL is a bold story about the many odd forms that love can take. Originally self-published in limited quantities, Humphries and Sanders were eager to share their story with a wider audience following the torrent of critical accolades OUR LOVE IS REAL received from fans, the comics press and creators alike.
"The response to the book, even in limited release, has been nothing short of amazing," said Humphries. "Image Comics has embraced our twisted little comic inside and out. We know we've found a great place to bring OUR LOVE IS REAL to a wider audience."
"This is a unique book," added Sanders. "We weren't sure how it would be received. But we love it, and apparently a lot of other people do too! We can't wait for everyone to get a chance to see it for themselves."
In OUR LOVE IS REAL, the plantsexuals are rioting in the streets for equal rights, humans are falling in love with dogs, and crystals are much more than just jewelry! When a chance encounter on the job changes a riot cop's life forever, he finds himself caught in a bizarre love triangle that blurs romance, crime, and lust beyond recognition.
OUR LOVE IS REAL (SEP110383), a uniquely formatted 8x8, 24-page black and white, sci-fi satire comic for $3.99, will be available for order in the September issue of Previews and goes on sale in stores November 2nd.

I've had this Golden Heroes page on the site for a while now because I posted it to the Champions mailing list wa-ay, WAY back in The Day (like 2001-2002, I think) but I've never linked to it from the site because it's straight from GeoCities - literally just lifted from the old, old site (think even way-er back - like 1998-1999).
The information is from a campaign I created and ran back in the 1990s, either when I was still in highschool or right after I graduated, so I have no idea if I still have any of this material nor where it would be right offhand. I keep everything though, and just came across a Champions folder from back in those days a few weeks back. It was mostly character sheets and the like, but who knows what all is in there?
Anyway, it would be too much trouble to design the whole thing and I honestly don't know if I still have the original source material, but I thought I would share it with you. Note that there is no way back to the site or blog from the page, so it opens in a new window.
Let me know if you dig it and I'll look for the other stuff. If it gets enough hits and a decent response, I don't mind putting it together correctly one of these days. It wouldn't be any time real, real soon though. Enjoy!

Henson Alternative, the "adult" side of Henson Entertainment, will be using their world-famous Muppets to re-enact pop-cultural scenes and spoof entertainment in the new show, History Of. History Of will also feature celebrity cameos, which may include some of the original Muppets gang - however, Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzy, and gang are about to release their new feature-length film and are not specifically scheduled to appear on History Of.
The show is aimed at the 18-45 demographic.

I know it seems like I'm always doing these because I kinda always am, but I started doing more technical-type tweaks earlier this month and discovered some major flaws in just... the entire design of the Dark Conspiracy RPG section. I'm working on clearing those up now.
What I'm doing should not only make it easier to find things and easier to find in the search engines, but a lot more organized. It will be easier to read, and should make more of an impact. Some of that is dependent on the content itself, but a lot of it needs to be rearranged. Remember that The Weirding has developed into its current state over the last 12-13 years, not just the five or so that it's been online under its own domain, so there is a lot of stuff on there that isn't readily apparent. Plus, like I said, I do these updates constantly now, and have done them at least once or twice every year for the last five years or more.
Anyway, no news on a live game going down just yet, but the content will be better packaged and more readily-available for fans. However, I am working on this presently, so it will probably still be underway if you go to visit it right now. Just have patience, irradiated grasshopper!

CBS Films has picked-up a screenplay called Hellfest from two neophyte screenwriters, William Penick and Chris Sey. Hellfest takes place in a theme park, where unsuspecting victims are hunted overnight by a costumed killer and onlookers think it is all just a part of the show. The project is going through Valhalla Entertainment.

After self-publishing for much of the '90s, Paul Grist brought two critically-acclaimed original titles to Image Comics in 2002: the crime drama KANE, and the eclectic superhero series JACK STAFF. Recently, Grist has been using his sparse, signature style to develop a new superhero that will be introduced to the world this November with the debut of MUDMAN.
"This is my 'Back to Basics' superhero comic," explained Grist. "It's not about alien menaces or cosmic powers (though they may pop-up once in a while); it's all about growing-up, finding your way in the world, and how the decisions that you make can affect others. In a way, it's probably the most autobiographical comic I've ever done. But with added mud."
"Paul has been one of my favorite creators since writer Robert Loren Fleming turned me onto KANE back in the '90s," said Image Comics Publisher Eric Stephenson. "His style looks deceptively simple, but he's a master of his craft, capable of some of the cleverest storytelling in comics. It's a big thrill for me that Paul's part of Image, and I can't wait to see what he does with MUDMAN. "
In MUDMAN #1, the new school year is just beginning, and it isn't starting off well for teenager Owen Craig. His day just keeps going from bad to worse: He gets run over, he gets detention, then he learns his father has been taken hostage by armed bank robbers. But that's only the beginning of his problems. Now his body appears to be turning into mud!

As someone with an incredibly limited wardrobe, I know the hassles of having to do laundry constantly. It is not only time-consuming, it ruins your clothes. After a few too many washings, they begin to fall apart, first with small holes like moths have been eating them, then at the seams, where the shirts tear away. I would not want to talk to a healthcare professional dressed in a doctor uniform like that!
Scrubs demand frequent washing, so you can't get by with just skipping a few loads. Since cleanliness is such an important part of the job, you could also lose more than just patients and respect if you try it. Why take chances with any of it? Simply buy a lot of scrubs and always be prepared.
Check out http://www.blueskyscrubs.com/categories/Scrubs/Scrubs-for-Men/ for more information about men's scrubs. You can also look around the site for women's scrubs, uniforms, and accessories. Blue Skys carries it all, regardless of gender or duty.

So last year's 31 Days of Horror didn't go over quite as well as I'd hoped. Nevertheless, I am trying it again this year. It is nowhere near an original idea and it really shouldn't be too hard to pull-off, that was just an inaugural event and it didn't go-over as well as it should have for various reasons.
One of those reasons is that I chose the movies to review well in advance, but did not start reviewing them immediately. I honestly wanted to review one movie for every day in October, leading-up to Halloween, as that was part of my personal Halloween celebration. Unfortunately, everyone else appears to like horror flicks in and around October too, so Netflix took over half the movies I'd planned to review down and made them DVD only selections just weeks, even days, before I was set to review them!
This time, I've already started watching and reviewing the films that will be included in the 2011 31 Days of Horror, so I'm hoping everything goes swimmingly -- even though we should all be prepared for any possible gaffes along the way. That's kind of what makes things like this fun in the first place, so I hope everyone enjoys it!
31 Days of Horror Movie Reviews starts October 1st on The Rundown.

Beginning this October, Todd McFarlane's long-running creator-owned series SPAWN will welcome comics legend Michael Golden to the team as he signs on as the series' regular cover artist.
Revered amongst comic book pros and fans alike since bursting onto the scene in the mid-'70s, Golden is perhaps best known for his work on Micronauts and The 'Nam. He has worked on virtually every major character in comics from Superman to Spider-Man, from the X-Men to the Avengers – and well beyond, when you add his amazing cover work to the tally.
"I've been a fan of Michael Golden's almost as long as I've been a fan of comic books. He’s been a huge influence on my artwork over the years ," said McFarlane. "After having the pleasure of inking him on the 200th Anniversary issue of SPAWN, I knew I wanted us to work together again in the near future. When the opportunity presented itself soon after, I knew he was the perfect choice for cover artist. Don’t miss his debut in this month’s issue of SPAWN!"
Image Comics Publisher Eric Stephenson added, "Between getting back on schedule and a fresh creative team that's pushing the story into new and exciting places, SPAWN has been at the absolute top of its game this year. Adding a powerhouse like Michael Golden to the mix is only going to strengthen an already top-notch series."
Since his new life as the Hellspawn began, Jim Downing has been at-odds with himself. Now, following his confrontation with Clown, Jim is ready to step from the shadows and claim his place as a new messiah for the Digital Age.
SPAWN #213, a 32-page full color comic book for $2.99, will be in stores November 2nd and will be available to order in the September issue of Previews. SPAWN #210 is on sale now.

BLUE ESTATE takes place on the mean streets of Los Angeles, where an alcoholic hit man and a desperate starlet dodge Russian mobsters, Italian gangsters, ninjas, hippies, and the L.A.P.D. in a scheme to steal millions from a psychotic action movie hero.
This September, Image Comics will proudly present the first collection of BLUE ESTATE, written by Viktor Kalvachev (PHERONE, DMZ, The Incredibles) and Emmy Award-winning screenwriter Andrew Osborne with artwork from a variety of artists, including Viktor Kalvachev, Nathan Fox (Fluorecent Black, Invincible Iron Man, Pigeons From Hell), Toby Cypress (RODD RACER, Batman/Nightwing) and Robert Valley (Massive Swerve, Gorillaz, Tron TV series).
BLUE ESTATE deals with a low-rent private eye trying (and failing) to escape the long shadow of his respected cop father. But a chance encounter with a B-list action star drags the wannabe gumshoe into a world of strippers, mobsters... and the wildest (and only!) case of his career! See who lives, who dies, and who gets the Tiger Blood knocked outta them in the first four issues of the fast, funny, smash-hit new crime series from Image Comics.
BLUE ESTATE, VOL. 1 TP also features several never-before-seen extras, including a special "Making of a Page" chapter, a "Creating a Character" section of sketches and development phases for key characters, a clay sculpture character gallery and a special introduction from Blue Estate's very own star, Bruce Maddox!
BLUE ESTATE, VOL. 1 TP, a 120-page full color paperback, will be on sale in stores September 14th for $12.99 and is available to order in the July 2011 edition of Diamond Previews (JUL110455, ISBN: 978-1-60706-429-9).

SyFy has decided to cancel Eureka, even though it originally announced it had renewed the series for a sixth season. In a statement, the SyFy Channel noted that Eureka would end its fifth season with 12 more episodes and a Christmas special, calling the 2012 episodes "some of the best we've seen."
In the same statement, SyFy called it a "business decision," but the cancellation of Eureka comes on the heels of casting news that includes Wil Wheaton, Felicia Day, and the voice of Jim Parsons. Maybe there is hope that Eureka will return for a sixth season after all.

United We Stand Against Censorship! That's the message from Image Comics, over two dozen of the industry's greatest creators, and our friends at DC Comics and Marvel Comics, who have all banded together to deliver the greatest CBLDF benefit comic yet -- CBLDF LIBERTY ANNUAL 2011!
Famed comics editor Bob Schreck, Editor-in-Chief of Legendary Comics, and Assistant Editor Greg Tumbarello view censorship as the ultimate form of bullying and have gathered an all-star team of comics creators to tell powerful stories that take a stand against censorship. CBLDF LIBERTY ANNUAL 2011 comprises 48 powerful pages of all new stories and art. The proceeds from the sale of the book benefit the ever-important First Amendment work of the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund.
Schreck declares, "It's an honor to be asked to edit LIBERTY ANNUAL! We wanted to show the human side of what it means to be censored, and we're elated with how many powerful and heartfelt tales were delivered. With an American facing prosecution in Canada for the comics he reads, the work that CBLDF does is more important now than ever, and the CBLDF LIBERTY ANNUAL is essential tool in the fight against censorship."
CBLDF LIBERTY ANNUAL 2011 collects incredible contributions, including original stories by superstars J. Michael Straczynski (Superman: Earth One), Frank Quitely (All-Star Superman), J.H. Williams III (Batwoman), Steve Niles (30 days of Night), Judd Winick (Catwoman), Mark Waid (Daredevil) and Jeff Lemire (Sweet Tooth), and Carla Speed McNeil (Finder). Look for all-new tales featuring Grendel by Matt Wagner, Cowboy Ninja Viking by AJ Lieberman and Riley Rossmo, and Elephantmen by Richard Starkings and Shaky Kane. Plus: a massive and first-ever full-color story from independent comics master Craig Thompson (Blankets)!
Marvel and DC Comics have stepped up to show their support, with all-new pin-ups of Batman by Dustin Nguyen, X-Men by Greg Land, Green Lantern by Ivan Reis, and the Avengers by Greg Horn! It's all topped-off by incredible covers by John Cassaday, Matt Wagner, and two variant covers by Frank Quitely: a full-color, 1 in 25 cover, and a black and white, 1 in 50 cover!
"Bob’s experience as an editor is hard to beat, and we're proud to have him at the helm," says CBLDF Executive Director Charles Brownstein. "Bob made a book that has something to say, without being sentimental or preachy. He's made a comic we can all be proud of, and that will go a long way towards advancing the CBLDF's important work."
Image Comics Publisher Eric Stephenson says, "It should go without saying that free speech is one of our most fundamental rights as citizens of this great country. Our right to free expression is challenged on a daily basis, though, and sometimes, those challenges occur within the comics world. Without the diligence of organizations like the CBLDF, everyone in the comics community would be much worse off. There are always bullies out there trying to keep people from enjoying the rights we're all entitled to, but thankfully there are also people willing to stand up for those rights. I'm proud that Image is able to lend a hand."
Join the fight against censorship by picking up your copy of CBLDF LIBERTY ANNUAL 2011 (AUG110415), a 48-page full color comic book benefiting the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, available from Image Comics on October 12th, 2011, for $4.99.
ABOUT THE COMIC BOOK LEGAL DEFENSE FUND
Comic Book Legal Defense Fund is a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection of the First Amendment rights of the comics artform and its community of retailers, creators, publishers, librarians, and readers. The CBLDF provides legal referrals, representation, advice, assistance, and education in furtherance of these goals.
